Logs in a Misty Garden 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 from Virtual Quilter

This is a way to use up a heap of dull fabrics … make a Log Cabin quilt, then add applique.

Make variations of the Log Cabin blocks for a very interesting background.

They can be any size or shape you like, or it may depend on how big the fabric stash is.

My real garden looks a bit like this at the moment … bare dirt with a few plants scattered around.

Unfortunately, some of those bare patches will soon be growing weeds. Thankfully, no weeds will grow on any patches of these designs.

Very interesting collection of block designs … especially the pyramids with floral clouds!

Lovely!

Another lovely one.

I think the applique is a bit too much in the design above.

I like the last one … just enough applique, so the logs are an important part of the design, and there is room to show off some quilting.

Logs in a Misty Garden 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from Virtual Quilter

In a new project file I coloured some Log Cabin blocks in rather subdued colours, then added some blocks from one of my Floral Cross collection of applique blocks.

I have fallen in love with this idea, and started several projects in different colourways, but I think this is going to be the favourite one.

My two favourite pastimes are combined in these designs … sewing, particularly quilts, and gardening.

No fabric is damaged and my hands don’t get dirty mixing the two hobbies in this way, and most importantly the dirty hands don’t come in contact with the ...
